Backpack in the Park 2020 - For the Kid in All of Us | Mobile Silent Auction | Find an Event Near You | Handbid
COVID-19 has been a challenge for all of us, but we're not going to let it ruin the back to school activities for Georgia's children in need. Now more than ever, these children and their families are in dire need of our help to give them a smile as they start back up school in the fall. Welcome to our 15th annual Backpack in the Park! We're going virtual! For the past 14 years, For the Kid in All of Us has collected over 28,000 backpacks and school supplies for Georgia's children in need, through various in-person events. This year though, we're holding everything virtually, including our silent auction! Here's how it's going to work:(1) We are collecting donations for virtual backpacks (now through 11:59 pm eastern, July 20, 2020). You can do that by either going to the donate button above, or browsing the items list and seeing the different virtual backpack packages.(2) Our silent auction items will go live on June 13, 2020 and close at 8:00 pm eastern, July 20, 2020. You can preview those items above under "items," and get ready to bid once it opens!(3) All of the funds received through the purchases of virtual backpacks, donations, and the silent auction will be used to purchase bulk shipments of backpacks and school supplies. We can get a backpack with all the supplies for around $25 (the same thing would cost you at LEAST $40-$50 if you bought yourself).(4) We're working directly with our beneficiary organizations to have the items shipped directly to them, or to a place where they can securely pick them up.Can you help us meet our goal of 3,000 backpacks and supplies?? And did you know that donating in 2020 has a special bonus for you? The CARES Act allows for individuals who do not itemize their taxes to claim an "above-the-line" deduction for charitable gifts made in cash up to $300. That means you can help even more this year! (Disclosure: For the Kid in All of Us is not providing tax advice. Donors should consult with their tax professional for further information). For more information about For the Kid in All of Us, head to www.forthekid.org.
